The Odiana - Baixo Guadiana Development Association, was founded by the municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António in November 1998 and received an ancient name of the Guadiana River: Odiana.
This is a non-profit association whose goal is to unite the territory through structuring projects, contributing to the economic, social and cultural development of Baixo Guadiana, a territory that has local resources with exceptional potential and whose link between them is the Guadiana, «the big south river».
In line with the development of Baixo Guadiana, Odiana develops a number of actions and projects through regional, national and international applications for operational programs.
There are also expanded partnerships with local and central government, local and regional associations, regional directions, universities, research centers, enterprises, but also with entities of international administrations.
