From the 10th until 15th of October, Vila Real de Santo António has the Feira da Praia (beach fair) along the Avenida da Republica and Praça Marquês de Pombal . Annually welcomes thousands of visitors , mainly spaniards who are moving on the 12th to buy the fair and local businesses.

The name , Feira da Praia , originated in the venue of the same , compared to the beaches of the Guadiana in 1774 , date of the foundation of Vila Real de Santo António. Originally intended to promote social and economic enlargement of the village , aiming to impel fisheries.

In the Avenida da Republica is sold a little of everything , from clothing to kitchenware , through crafts and toys. The Marquês de Pombal Square is practically " reserved " to food, such as beans, grains, nuts, cheeses and sausages from across the country .
